Northern Irish musician Hugo Duncan has posted a since-deleted letter to his management team and record label demanding that they remove his music from Spotify.
The 71-year-old affectionately dubbed ‘Uncle Hugo’ by his nieces, nephews and most frequently, himself, is taking his music off the streaming juggernaut in protest over the misinformation spread about his native Strabane by podcaster, Joe Rogan.
‘I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about my wee hometown’, tweeted the ‘wee man from Strabane’.
‘Joe is telling his listeners Strabane is a shit hole’.
‘Well I can assure you it’s much worse than that’.
‘How we only finished 8th in a poll to find the worst place to live in the UK I’ll never know. It was an absolute travesty’.
‘Not only are we the most bombed town in Northern Ireland, we’re the most bombed town in Europe. That’s some going’.
‘Who is this Joe Rogan fella, anyway? Sounds like he plays GAA, wears bootcut jeans, cuts turf and smuggles red diesel’.
‘F**k you, Joe Rogan, sure your aul Uncle Hugo thinks you’re a ball-bag’.
